carpenter center mapping of shadows at night
An intervention within an open but defined negative space. The logic comes from mappings done of the space regarding the lighting and shadows at night. By overlaying the mapping of where the lights originated from, as well as their path, over the map of the columns and their respective shadows I designed a system of structures to represent these relationships. Then by building upon more congested areas with extra structures a new definition of space is formed.
The system could be never ending in theory, for as arches are added they create new shadows and thus more opportunities for more structure and manipulation of space.
